Sorry for the delay in Mental Music Monday…I have been having computer problems but I think they are solved now. Thank goodness. Along with computer problems I also have been “banned” from running. You may not know this but I am 4 weeks from running my 2nd Marathon with Team In Training and I am injured. I can’t run for the next few weeks so I have been advised to take a few spinning classes.
So this morning at 5:15 I headed over to the gym for my first spinning class. I had done spinning before but never really fell in love with it. You know what made the class SO much fun? THE MUSIC!!
Music has such an impact on our mood. I have written about this here. Today I lived that concept. I admit my attitude was less than positive when I started. I am a runner and I want to run so I was not terribly excited about biking…BUT I want to finish the marathon next month without injury so care must be taken now to allow that to happen.
As the class progressed and I felt the thumping of the music and peddled away my attitude started to change. Hey I like this, I was having fun and challenged myself. As an added perk I got to listen to some great music. Many of you know, I am a firm believer in exercise for coping with any of life’s stresses big or small. So why not head out with your ipod or mp3 player for a walk or a run and crank the music up a bit. Or if you can attend a new class at the gym to spice up your workout routine.
While I was spinning I was thinking about which song I liked best today to use as my Mental Music Monday song. It was a toss up but I settled on an old favorite of mine…Summer of 69′. I hope you enjoy it and remember, don’t let your attitude spoil your ability to cope with life!

“You spin me right round baby, right round…” Attitude is everything.

Funny you mention this song…when it comes on the radio or my MP3 I turn it up really loud and sing my little lungs out. It’s one of those songs that can give me a very quick attitude adjustment and make me smile.
