Put your dreaming shoes on!
When you think about having a million dollars lying around you probably have to go to the “daydream” place in life. The “if I _____ I would _____ conversation with yourself.”.
Did you know that daydreaming actually has health benefits? From lowering blood pressure, to increasing your creativity and boosting your mood daydreaming is not such a waste of time after all. I think for the “Type -A” people (like me) spending time daydreaming would be something I have to really try to do. Often when I am out for a run I will let my mind wander and in a sense, daydream a bit.
It is true, my mood improves, my creativity is renewed and it certainly provides a bit of an escape from reality. While some days we all want to permanently escape from our reality and we realize that is not an option for healthy coping.
Spending a few minutes here and there thinking about a dream vacation, about a new job, another pregnancy, reaching a goal is a productive way to use your brain. It will allow you the distraction from the day to day grind and perhaps you may find a new goal from your daydream. You may realize something about yourself that you didn’t know.
I encourage you to take some time and daydream. To help you out and since I like this song -
I want to know one thing you would do if you “had a million dollars”?
It is only fair that I share what I would do. I would take my family on a vacation.
My youngest (27 months) has never met the majority of my husband’s family so I would head to Oregon first and then from there take my kids to LegoLand in California, Sea World, Disneyland, the Wild Animal Park and the beach. We have not been able to travel due to my son’s cancer treatment so taking a trip would be a real treat!
So tell me please – what is one of the things you would do?
Happy Mental Music Monday!

If I had a million dollars, I would pay off our family's debts. That way, my husband could resign from his job which pays well but brings him so much stress and exhaustion. We would love to start a nonprofit organization which would allow us to help lift people out of poverty and oppression and spend some time showing our children how other people in the world live!

I would do a lot more philanthropy, have lots more kids, hire people to do the mundane stuff in life so I can spend more time with my family, be overly generous anonymously, make people's day by surprising them (like giving tons of needed items to a struggling single mom), get a bigger house for our growing family, buy a private airplane so we can fly places spontaneously without having to go through security, deal with large crowds and to save loads of time or to fly my friends (like Cath and her family) places they dream of…wait a second, all this will take more than a million dollars!

Your post reminded me of a movie the kids and I watched over Christmas break called "The Christmas Wish." It was about a "real live" Santa Claus, who basically was one of the wealthiest men in NYC but lived in a tiny apartment, did not own a car, and had very little possessions to speak of. He instead used his days to sit in the park and people watch, and chose those who he knew could use some help by donating or leaving gifts to them anonymously. ( A homeless man, a single grandmother rasing her grandchildren, and so on). It sent such a GREAT message to my kids, not only about helping others, but how we don't always need to be recognized for generosity and kindness, it is something to do because it makes our own hearts feel good.
I guess my point is that I would LOVE to be a "real live Santa Claus" if I had a million dollars!!

What a great idea! To show our children how fortunate they are and to be able to relieve your husband of his stressful job would be a great use of a million dollars~
