One thing I love about living in Colorado is we truly have 4 seasons in a year and they are each unique and different from one another.  Perhaps you can relate if where you live is similar.  I find Spring to be the season of patience.  Lots of waiting – and you know me…(not a fan of waiting, see # 3).  So is Spring my least favorite season?  I think not, but here are the reasons why Spring drives me a little nuts.  (most of them have to do with waiting and being patient)

1. Get GREEN already!  I have a tiny obsession love for grass.  I like it green and lush.  I don’t like brown grass – and I don’t like sorta brown and I don’t like the in-between stage of “getting green”.  I like deep green grass.  I like the smell of fresh cut grass.  It really doesn’t matter how much I like it for now I have to wait a few more weeks before our grass greens up.  It is still a bit early to turn on our sprinklers to help “it” along.

2. My poor flowers – I don’t have any sort of green thumb but got lucky a few years ago and planted some bulbs.  Each year a few more daffodils sprout but as soon as they do we get a snow storm with wind and my flowers don’t survive.  I love tulips too but the same thing often happens to them.  So spring flowers around here are an “enjoy” quickly event.

3. Warm/windy/sunny/snowy/cloudy/rainy/cold – you name it we get it.  Springtime in the Rockies.  The variance in temperature from the bus stop in the morning to the bus stop in the afternoon often requires a whole wardrobe change.  My kids can wear 3 outfits in a day during the spring.  While this may not seem like a big deal it can become one for my laundry chore which often suffers from multiple clothing changes.  NEVER do my kids wear something (even if for a few hours) and not get it dirty.   My mudroom has snow boots and sunscreen in it.  Heavy coats and flip flops.  It is enough to make a person looney.

4. Longer days.  I love the time change in the spring.  It means more time outside with my kids and neighbors.  It means brighter, warmer mornings for runs and lighter meals for dinner as we break out the grill.  Be careful though, as soon as the sun goes down…IT’S FREEZING!!

5. In-between.  Everything is in-between in the Spring.  Not quite warm enough to leave the coat behind, not quite in bloom for the yard and trees, not quite the long days like in the summer.

Spring is just a work in progress.  Kind of like life…a work in progress.

We have to be patient and wait for growth (like blooms on a tree), we have to nourish our life in order to see change (like the grass becoming green).

We have to be cautious and not push to quickly – patiences is key…in the season of spring and in our life.

I am using the camera on my iphone for some because I just don’t have my SLR with me all the time.  I decided to create a “logo” for this which I think will help me and those of you out there who want to join in.

You can start any time – it does not have to coincide with the calendar year. The purpose for me was to allow myself to be passionate about photography and scrap-booking without the act of scrap-booking.  I can’t wait to put the photos in a simple digital album to share “our year in pictures“.  I look forward to hearing the kids as they describe the pictures out loud.  Creating memories is so important to me and this is  just one way that i can continue to do that for my family.
